This Is Me: Life, Motherhood, and the Heart Behind the Lens

If you’re new here, hi, I’m Nicole. I’m a mum, a photographer, and a woman who’s had to rebuild her life more than once. And if you’re not new here, you probably already know that I wear my heart on my sleeve and that my work is deeply personal.

This business of mine was born not long after my motherhood journey began. I picked up a camera in 2016 with no idea what I was doing, just a strong desire to capture every tiny moment before it slipped away. That’s where this all began. With love. With motherhood. With time moving far too fast.

By January 2019, Nicole Peters Photography became something more than a creative outlet. It became a way to connect with people, to tell stories, and to give others what I was trying to hold onto for myself: memories that matter.

But life doesn’t move in straight lines.

In June 2023, I became a single mum. And even though I made that choice for myself and my daughters, it didn’t come without pain. I was suddenly trying to run a business with no income, no home, and barely enough mental space to get through the day. My confidence disappeared, and for a while, so did my creativity.

But healing has a way of changing you. Quietly, over time, I began to find my way back to myself. I rebuilt, slowly at first. I fell in love with photography all over again. I found a new rhythm in life, and my business started to reflect that too. I’m in a different chapter now. One where joy feels like something I get to carry with me, not just something I wait for.

These days, I show up to my work with a full heart and a deep appreciation for the messy, beautiful reality of life. My sessions are not about forced smiles or perfect poses, they’re about connection. They’re about capturing love in all its forms. About telling your story in a way that feels true.

Because photos are more than just images. They’re heirlooms. They’re moments you’ll hold onto when the days blur and your babies grow up and time does what time always does...moves on. These photos? They become part of your legacy.

This blog is a space where I’ll be sharing more than just pretty pictures. I’ll be sharing parts of my story, lessons I’ve learned, thoughts on motherhood, business, and life after heartbreak. There’ll be photography tips too, stories from my sessions, and hopefully, moments that make you feel a little less alone.
